Time for a new page, work has been steady on Camelot for the last week. I got lots of the horrible jobs done around the layout. All the point motors are now in on the junction in the picture below and iv'e sprayed the rails, so i can start ballasting the station approaches. Also this week i managed to finally get another two signal sections in place, so Camelot is looking nice and busy again with more trains able to run on the mainlines. Target for this week is to get the siding in for the little quarry in pic below and maybe start on some ballasting.......... watch this space.

As i said in the entry above , im going to add a small siding for the quarry. Here it is, and it has its own page with a handy tip on the pointwork. http://www.camelotjunction.co.uk/simplesiding.htm

A trip to a model shop for a small fence and i come out with a train, a digger and a fence! I managed to rescue a 159 in major need of some tlc. Total rewire, a chip hard wired in and 1 hour later , i now have a 159 nicely trotting around Camelot. Here it is.

Here is the digger , by wiking. It needs to be weathered and the whole quarry scene needs to be done, but i think it will look the part.

On the way down from the loft after taking the pictures of the digger, i noticed how clean the TMD looked for a change, Bit of space now ive had a clear out. So i took a picture........

Work has been slow on Camelot the last few weeks, due to other commitments and the sun being out. But i did mangae to get to the model shop and pick up a few things, including a new bachmann 37 in EWS livery, a few old lima wagons, which i liked, and i finally remembered to pick up some more tree making stuff. So here are a few pictures of my new bits. Starting with the old lima wagons, which were nicely weathered and had loads already.

Here is my new 37 next to the old EWS one, can you see which is which?   I was very impressed with the other new Bachmann 37s i wanted another one, now i have to get a 21pin chip from somewhere.

Here is the woodland scenics tree making kit, i will include a new page on how i make them up and install them on the layout, hopefully later today.  Page is here now.. http://www.camelotjunction.co.uk/treemaking.htm

Here is my trusty old Heljan 33 pulling the new wagons on the branchline.

Right, time to crack on ! I just seem to be going round and round in circles with the layout lately, repairing older stuff before getting time to add new bits. So i decided to get things fixed and finished in one big surge of building. First.... the tmd, its been dragging on for ages, so its about time i finished it off. I need to finish the ballast and scenic work on the new bit and patch up the old end which is starting to look a bit shabby. So firstly all the trains have to be moved out , so i drove them all from the tmd to the station. Here is a picture of the empty TMD.

Working my way from the back to the front im going to ballast and weather the track , line by line. In this picture , you can see i have done the first track ballasting ( its the lighter grey one). I have also patched up the ballast around the older points that was damaged when old track was removed.

Typically i have run out of paint just when im in the mood. Still this ballasting only took a couple of hours so the rest should be done by the end of the week.

Here is a close up of the ballasted points. Still needs to be weathered, just need to order some paint.

While the ballast was drying and i had all the glue and stuff to hand , i gave the old section of the TMD a bit of tlc, adding ballast where its missing from and also added a few more weeds and a location cabinet. So its looking an bit neater now, you can see the lighter patches of ballast where its been replaced.

A few more weeds now added as the scenery is spreading. Next update and the TMD will be finished. I promise!

Just a nice picture of a 37 in the yard. Still must get on with ballasting, no playing.........

As promised , i have got all the ballasting done in the TMD. Here it is still very wet, i have also filled in the edge of the board with some scenic flock.

A closer view of the TMD storage sidings.

A few locos arrive to inspect the ballast. Its not 100% finished, still need to go over it with a air brush to make it all a bit grubby, but still need to get more paint. You can see the track on the far right has been made to look dirty, eventually the whole yard will be this colour. Off to the model shop now, back later!

New arrival on Camelot, this new bachmann signal box, iv'e been looking forward to getting one of these since i first saw the pictures.
Its going to be roughly where it is in the picture, but i need to finish wiring for the signals and points for this area before i can add scenery again. So that is the next big job, which i hope to get started next week.

Here is another view of the brilliant new signal box. Some intersting stuff about this box also, the roof comes off so the inside can be detailed, so im going to add lights and internal detail to the model. Also when my new paints arrive i will weather the outside of the box a little to blend it in to the layout and im also thing of rasing it up a bit on some ply wood, so the lower windows can be seen when all the ballast and weeds are in place.
